Pearls in a Monkey’s Neck

Pearls in a Monkey's Neck

Can you recognize the footage from the pictures?

I am sure you can.

(1) Tokyo Station:

Tokyo Station officially opened on December 20, 1914. Since then, it has become one of Japan’s most important and busiest railway stations. It is a major hub for both local and Shinkansen (bullet train) services.

The station’s historic Marunouchi Building, designed by architect Tatsuno Kingo, is famous for its red brick facade. It is now an important cultural property in Japan.

(2) Mirpur-10 Metro Rail Station:

Mirpur-10 Metro Rail Station officially opened on March 1, 2023.

Protesters set fire to the overbridge under the station on the afternoon of July 18.

(3) Japan’s Bullet Train:

Bullet trains usually travel at speeds of 240 to 320 kilometers per hour. However, some Shinkansen models, such as the E5 and E6, can speed up to 320 kilometers per hour.

(4) The Pride of Bengal, Metro Rail:

It may reach speeds of less than 20 km per hour, but the people of Bangladesh need it very much.

Bengali parents love their children so much that they sacrifice their own needs, like going hungry, to ensure their children grow up successful, even if it means having many children.

That’s why there is so much crowd in Bangladesh. Metro rail is very much needed for these children’s everyday lives. But these children set the station on fire.

I support the students’ demands. I demand justice for the loss of their lives. I strongly condemn the government’s massacre of students.

However, I strongly condemn the destruction of state property.

Japan’s people have been caring for their station for hundreds of years, yet the golden boys of Bangladesh burned it down in one year. Is this like putting pearls on a monkey’s neck?
